LAS VEGAS — Rick Nash as Jason Spezza’s trigger man?
Crazy dream, right? Well, not according to Ottawa Senators general manager Bryan Murray, who has talked with Columbus Blue Jackets counterpart Scott Howson “several times” about a possible trade.
“Realistically, I don’t know,” Murray said. “But I think my job as a general manager is to investigate every possibility to improve our hockey team and that’s what I’ve done. I’ve talked to Scott on the basis of what we might be able to do and we’ll just have to see what he comes back with, if he does.
“My job is always to be involved, if I can, in any big player transaction.”
Nash could be traded somewhere in the next few days, with draft picks being included as part of the deal. Columbus is scheduled to pick second at Friday’s entry draft in Pittsburgh.
“I’m not sure the urgency that Columbus has,” Murray said. “It seems to me that it’s not a big, big hurry and they’re going to do it on their terms. They’re going to try and include as many teams as they can. The impression I got is that when it happens, it happens.”
