The marquee line of Jason Spezza between Milan Michalek and Bobby Ryan will make its first appearance in a game situation Sunday night when the Ottawa Senators face off against the Jets in Winnipeg.

And those won’t be the only big names in the lineup. Erik Karlsson and Marc Methot, Ottawa’s top defence tandem, will also dress, while goalie Robin Lehner will get the start.

Jason Spezza will also be sporting the captain’s ‘C’ on his No. 19 jersey for the first time, something he was looking forward to.

“It’ll be nice to play a game with the ‘C’ for sure,” he said prior to boarding a flight to the Manitoba capital. “It’s something I’m excited about and it’ll be cool to see it, for sure.”

He was also looking forward to seeing how he and his new linemates gel in a game situation. It’s one thing to skate in scrimmages, another to play 60 minutes in a packed rink against opponents fighting for NHL jobs.

“The best way to find chemistry is to play games, so then you kind of go through it and see what guys like to do.”

Coach Paul MacLean said he isn’t sure yet how ice time will shake out for the netminders.

The game won’t be televised, but will be broadcast on Team 1200 AM.

The Senators play again Monday night against the Calgary Flames in Saskatoon. That game will be on Rogers 22.
