A crush of local hockey talent is playing a charity game for a great cause Dec. 27 at Minto Arena.

All proceeds from a game between ‘Team Gudbranson’ and ‘Team Methot’ will go to the family of local hockey pro Chris Kushneriuk, who is receiving complicated cancer treatment in Indianapolis. Kushneriuk, who would playing for the ECHL Bakersfield Condors this season, was diagnosed with testicular cancer this past summer.

His medical costs are expected to be in the $250,000 range and perhaps higher. Dan Bittle of Apex Sport Management organized a #Krush Cancer charity game for 8 p.m. next Thursday, between teams led by Erik Gudbranson of the Florida Panthers and the Senators’ own Marc Methot.

With each $5 ticket purchase, fans have an opportunity to bid on silent auction for items such as a Phil Kessel-autographed Bardown Hockey hat, a PK Subban-autographed Bardown Hockey hat, a Cody Ceci game-used autographed stick, a Riley Brace game-used autographed stick and Gudbranson’s game-used gloves among other items.
