Lehner to play for Sweden
With all the trouble in Ottawa right now, the Ottawa Senators are still keeping an eye on the future.
Friday morning, they announced they will lend Binghamton goaltender Robin Lehner — still 19 years old — to Sweden for the world junior team.
Lehner has had a bizarre start to his professional career. His demotion to Binghamton hit an early snag due to visa issues and he had barely stepped into the crease for Binghamton when he was recalled to Ottawa to replace the injured Pascal Leclaire for several weeks.
Much like the case with the big-league Senators, Lehner has been a victim of a weak offensive output in Binghamton and has only one win, to go along with five losses for Binghamton. The victory was a shutout over Syracuse on Nov. 7.
