Lehner moves into Alfredsson’s old house

Daniel Alfredsson is long gone from his old house west of Ottawa, but it remains Home Swede Home.

Daniel Alfredsson is long gone from his old house west of Ottawa, but it remains Home Swede Home.

Ottawa Senators goaltender Robin Lehner has bought the place from the former Senators captain and is now getting set up in his new digs.

It’s a sign that Lehner finally feels settled here.

“It’s my first Day One (in the NHL), I’ve ever been to, so it feels pretty good,” Lehner said Tuesday, after the Senators practiced with their opening day roster of 22 for the first time this season.

Lehner, 22, doesn’t want to make a big deal out of the purchase, but he acknowledges it’s a perfect spot for himself and his girlfriend, with plenty of room for his two dogs to run free.

He also says it will be a welcome landing spot for his family when they visit from Sweden.

Alfredsson, who signed as a free agent with the Detroit Red Wings in the summer, quietly put the house up for sale after he moved to Detroit with his wife, Bibbi, and four sons.
