Leclaire still Out

Ottawa Senators coach Cory Clouston believes Pascal Leclaire will play again this season.

Problem is, he has no idea when.

Leclaire missed his 13th straight game on Sunday. He’s been out since leaving the pre-game warmup on Dec. 17 in Denver with a lower-body injury.

The exact nature of that injury has never been disclosed, but it is different than the one that sidelined him for seven games at start of the season.

Whatever it is, it isn’t getting any better. Clouston said he hasn’t made any progress.

“He’s as disappointed and frustrated as anyone,” said Clouston.

“But right now he’s really not any further than he was a week ago. What the extent of that’s going to be, if I could tell you guys, I would. I just don’t know where he’s at right now.

“We still feel he’s going to play this year, but when that’s going to be, I’m not sure.”

Conseuqently, Mike Brodeur was recalled from Binghamton for the fifth time to serve as Brian Elliott’s backup against the Capitals.

I am sure why the Senators haven’t just put Leclaire on the IR and keep Brodeur up. Seems silly to keep calling him up like this.

I believe that Leclaire’s problem may psychological.

With so many injury and so much lenghty time off to recuperate without disclosure of what the injury consists of, you are left to wonder if it could not be psychological!

  1. Pascal Leclaire’s return to Ottawa lineup still unknown | ProHockeyTalk - January 16, 2011

[...] The Senators could stand to have some stability in goal and getting Leclaire back in the lineup would do wonders for that. Backup Brian Elliott and minor league call-up Mike Brodeur aren’t getting things done in the meantime. When will Leclaire be rejoining the team? Coach Cory Clouston would like to know that as much as Sens fans do. [...]
