Remember all the fuss Alex Kovalev caused last year, when he spoke glowingly of his fondness for the Montreal Canadiens organization — after signing with the Senators?
Well, perhaps Kovalev has since learned to button his lip on any controversial subjects regarding the Canadiens.
When asked Thursday about his reaction to Canadiens fans booing goaltender Carey Price for allowing four goals on 10 shots, Kovalev responded, “ask me something about Ottawa, not Montreal.”
Kovalev was more forthcoming about seeing his first action of the pre-season Friday in Montreal, however.
“It’s always good to get into that game routine, game shape. The other day, we played a scrimmage in practice and it’s a completely different workout…instead of doing a drill and taking a break between drills. When you get in the game, it will probably be hard for the first period, period and a half, two periods. Just to get the flow going and try to get into your game rhythm: figure out what you usually do, places you normally go to, finding the right places at the right time. It takes time to adjust, but that’s why you’ve got exhibition games and maybe the first one is not going to be perfect, but we’ve got more games to play to get ready for the season.”
