At game time, defenceman Erik Karlsson was a surprise scratch with what was called an “upper-body” injury. There was no indication of the injury’s seriousness or when he may have suffered it. Karlsson took part in the morning skate and looked fine. Coach Paul MacLean was expected to offer an update after the game.
