Karlsson favourite to win Norris Trophy, Subban a close second

Oddsmakers have weighed in on the race for major NHL awards this season and Erik Karlsson is at the top of the heap when it comes to the Norris Trophy.

Karlsson picked up the hardware — awarded annually to the league’s best defenceman — two seasons ago after running away with the defence scoring race.

Karlsson missed much of last season due to a sliced Achilles tendon, and Montreal Canadiens blueliner P.K. Subban ultimately won the honour in his absence.

Subban is a close second behind Karlsson, drawing a 9/2 line.

Senators starter Craig Anderson is Ottawa’s second-best hope at a major player award, garnering a 10/1 behind five other goalies.

Karlsson, meanwhile, is seen as a longshot to win the Hart Trophy as league MVP. Sportsbook Bodog has him at 40/1, well behind leader Sidney Crosby  (3/1).
