Hoffman shipped to ECHL
The Binghamton Senators have loaned Mike Hoffman and Jason Bailey to the Elmira Jackels of the ECHL, while recalling minor-league veteran Yannick Tifu.
Hoffman, who was Quebec Major Junior Hockey League MVP last season, has struggled with Binghamton, scoring only six goals and 10 assists in 46 games. The Senators expected more. “It was more about I wanted Hoff to go down and play,” Binghamton coach Kurt Kleinendorst told the Binghamton Press & Sun Bulletin.
Bailey, meanwhile, has played sparingly in Binghamton, registering no points in 17 games.

I still don’t like Jason Spezza. I don’t think you can win the big games with him as your #1 centre. He’s simply too inconsistent, extremely soft away from the puck and gets frazzled far too easily.
His point a game pace is a mirage established by stat-padding blowouts of other teams or multi-point losses. Can anyone remember ONE game, maybe TWO games where Spezza took a team on his back and led them to a championship, any championship? Can anyone remember ONE game where Spezza was tenacious and hard on the puck, stripping other players and chasing them? He couldn’t get the puck off Crosby in last year’s playoffs…
Spezza is a man-child, an overpaid one at that.
He’s Pierre Turgeon for the 2000s, and we all know what Turgeon’s nickanme was right?
The funny thing is the team is better with Spezza out because we an draft a CENTRE with our top five pick. Once that happens, smile, shake Spezza’s hand and show him the door because if the team is going to have a 40-60 point centre, it might as well pay league minimum for it and not 7 million.
