Morning skate update: Montreal Canadiens at Ottawa Senators on Sept. 23, 2011
Daniel Alfredsson is back — but is he ready for the rigours of NHL hockey just yet? The Senators captain seemed to think so Friday morning ahead of the Ottawa Senators’ pre-season tilt against the Montreal Canadiens at Scotiabank Place.

The Senators captain seemed to think so Friday morning ahead of the Ottawa Senators’ pre-season tilt against the Montreal Canadiens at Scotiabank Place.
Alfredsson, who hasn’t seen game action since last February and had off-season back surgery, said he’s done plenty of skating over the last week and is holding up well.
“It’s fun to be here…it’s been a long time coming, but I’m happy I’m here,” he said.
Alfredsson will play on a line with young centre Stephane Da Costa, who has had an impressive camp so far, and Milan Michalek. Here are the rest of the lines for tonight:
FORWARDS
Filatov-Spezza-Butler
Hoffman-Smith-Condra
Grant-Pageau-Petersson
DEFENCE
Phillips-Lee
Karlsson-Borowiecki
Wiercioch-Kuba
GOALTENDERS
Anderson
Lehner
That’s a pretty powerful lineup for the pre-season and could give fans a good show — especially given the Montreal Canadiens are 0-2 in tuneup games so far.
