Sure it’s just a preseason game, but there’s still something special about facing the defending Stanley Cup champions. Well, some of the defending Cup champions.

Some of the bigger names on the Bruins’ squad are missing (Zdeno Chara, Milan Lucic among them), but former Senator Chris Kelly, young phenom Tyler Seguin and top centre Patrice Bergeron will all suit up at Scotiabank Place Wednesday night.

Fortunately for the Senators’ hopefuls, Bruins goalie and notorious Ottawa-killer Tim Thomas stayed at home for this one.

As for the Senators, here’s how they’ll line up:

Forwards

Filatov-Zibanejad-Butler
Foligno-Regin-Condra
Prince-Da Costa-O’Brien
Daugavins-Locke-Parrish

Defence

Cowen-Gonchar
Phillips-Lee
Borowiecki-Rundblad

Goalies

Anderson
Auld

While players like Ottawa 67′s star Shane Prince and Binghamton Senators playoff surprise Mark Borowiecki talked about how hyped they were about facing Boston, most Senators fans will be keeping their eye on the home side — specifically at the centre position.

The Senators are weak there, which is bad if you’re a fan hoping for playoff hockey this season, but good if you’re a young prospect who wants a shot at second-line minutes in the NHL.

While Peter Regin has the edge, thanks to his experience and one-way contract, his struggles last season have many doubting he’ll be able to handle the workload. Enter Mika Zibanejad, the No. 6 overall pick this summer, and Stephane Da Costa, last season’s flashy NCAA pickup. This will be the battle to keep an eye on tonight.

Along those lines, here’s today’s poll ahead of the game. Let us know what you think.
