Empty-net goal a relief for Foligno: He’ll take it
After going 18 games without a goal, Nick Foligno wasn’t going to turn his nose up at the one he scored into an empty net to complete Wednesday’s 5-2 win over the Washington Capitals.
He even joked that he’d have gladly taken one like Capital centre Mathieu Perreault scored, a deflection off his face.
Now that the slump has ended, Foligno is hoping that one goal leads to many others.
“I don’t think I’ve played bad,” he said.
“I think it’s just been a matter of bounces. The puck just wasn’t going in. So it’s nice to see it go in and hopefully it will happen again and again.”
