Early morning surprise

Can’t say I saw this coming.

The Senators have recalled Jim O’Brien from Binghamton this morning.

Perhaps there’s a new injury to report, but I will have more details following Friday’s morning skate here in Columbus, in advance of Friday’s game against the Columbus Blue Jackets.

O’Brien has been perhaps the organization’s biggest surprise this season, scoring 12 goals and 13 assists in 33 games with Binghamton. Until this year, O’Brien, the club’s first round draft choice (29th overall) in 2007 didn’t look like he would ever have a chance of playing in the NHL.

He may be making his NHL debut Friday.
