Carkner shuffles off to Binghamton for conditioning
Defenceman Matt Carkner, who had been with the Senators on this road trip, was sent to Binghamton on a conditioning assignment.
He hasn’t played a regular-season game since having surgery on his right knee in September.
According to the CBA, he can stay in Bingo for two weeks. If the Senators ask him and he agrees, he can stay longer.
Then general manager Bryan Murray will have to make a roster decision, since he’ll be carrying two extra defencemen.
Binghamton, in fifth place in the AHL’s East Division with a 7-12-1-1 record, will host Manchester tonight.
