Canadiens announce Carey Price done for series

Nobody knows how long the Ottawa Senators’ first-round series against the Montreal Canadiens will go, but one thing is certain: Carey Price won’t be back in nets until it’s over.

Nobody knows how long the Ottawa Senators’ first-round series against the Montreal Canadiens will go, but one thing is certain: Carey Price won’t be back in nets until it’s over.

The Canadiens announced via their Twitter feed that their No. 1 goaltender is done until at least Round 2.

Will this wind up working in the Senators’ favour? Losing a No. 1 can be devastating, but it’s been a long time since Price was consistently good in the playoffs. His save percentage was a paltry .894 in this series, with a handful of cheap goals to his name.

Budaj, meanwhile, sports an 8-1-1 this season. His .908 save percentage during the season put him 46th in the league, however, and he posted losing records in the four campaigns leading up to this one. The Senators also lit him up in their lone matchup, a 5-1 win.
