Bishop starts, Daugavins and Wiercioch in for Senators

Ben Bishop will get his second start of the season when the Ottawa Senators face off against the Winnipeg Jets at Scotiabank Place Saturday afternoon.

Bishop hasn’t played since a 6-4 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning on Jan. 25. His lack of playing time has less to do with that shaky outing than it does with Craig Anderson’s stellar start to the season, however.

“We just felt it was time for him to play,” coach Paul MacLean told reporters prior to the game. “We don’t play again until Tuesday so this gives (Anderson) an opportunity to have a day off tomorrow and get himself recharged.”

Other lineup changes include a flips at forward and defence. Jim O’Brien will come out of the lineup so Kaspars Daugavins can get a game in, and Patrick Wiercioch will replace Andre Benoit.

The Senators defeated the Jets 4-1 in their only match-up this season at the MTS Centre in Winnipeg.
