Another Brust shutout
Interesting developments with the Binghamton Senators on Wednesday.
Barry Brust, the forgotten goaltender in the organization, stopped 26 shots to earn the shutout in Binghamton’s 3-0 win over the Albany Devils. It was originally believed that rookie Robin Lehner could get the start, if only because the parent Ottawa Senators want to see Lehner play as often as possible.
Brust has been a “rock” for Binghamton all season, according to coach Kurt Kleinendorst, but the fact he played Wednesday is intriguing considering that Senators coach Cory Clouston said Wednesday there was “a possibility” that Brian Elliott could get a rest in either Thursday’s game against the Philadelphia Flyers or Friday’s game versus the Montreal Canadiens.
Nothing is ever simple when it comes to the Senators goaltending situation.
