All’s Well That Ends Well

Minnesota Wild centre Matt Cullen was hoping to stay with the Senators after his brief stint last season, but nothing could get done and he ended up coming back to his home state.
“We talked to Ottawa a lot,” he said on Thursday.
“But I think at the time their defensive situation was really up in the air. So I don’t think they were able to fully really negotiate on that level, because they were still trying to figure out what they were going to do at the blue line.
“And obviously with (Sergei) Gonchar, they kind of seemed to go in that direction.”
It all worked out well, though. His wife is also from Minnesota.
“It’s been good,” he said.
“This is home for me. It’s been a big adjustment for us, with everything that goes with it, but it’s been a good thing.”
