Alfredsson scores; Michalek and Daugavins help out at world championships
The beat goes on for several Ottawa Senators players overseas at the world championships.
Senators captain Daniel Alfredsson scored once and Erik Karlsson had five shots on goal as Sweden survived a third period rally to defeat lightly-regarded Denmark 6-4. Sweden outshot Denmark 42-18 and at one point held a 6-1 lead.
Meanwhile, Kaspars Daugavins set up the game winning goal as his underdog Latvian squad surprised Germany 3-2 and Milan Michalek also had an assist as the Czech Republic defeated Norway 4-3 in overtime.
