While the goaltender poll could be close as you could pick Lalime for consistency, Hasek for performance in a short span or Emery for playoff gumption, the only way Phillips or Redden win this is if their families or the Ottawa Senators make accounts to vote for them. Chara is the best defenseman this franchise has moulded and given Karlsson (and Rundblad, apparently) have only a cursory interest in defense, that’s not likely to change.
I have to agree with you on the defenseman – I don’t even know why it’s even close. Hands down Chara was the best the team ever had.
As far as the goalie, I think the nod should go to Lalime. Hasek deserves consideration but having been there for less than 1 year, you can’t go with that. Emery had some success but IMO, it was much more because of the team in front of him than it was because of his play. I also don’t think he had the heart to really be considered an All-Star.
