Both Ottawa Senators president Cyril Leeder and captain Daniel Alfredsson said Sunday that they “don’t want to take anything for granted” when it comes to fan support.

As a result, the organization is making a conscious effort to woo back fans that remain bitter about the four-month lockout, starting with the Jan. 21 home opener against the Florida Panthers.

Perhaps it’s only natural that Guillaume Latendresse has felt some nerves while skating with his Ottawa Senators teammates at Scotiabank Place for the past two days.

While every player is anxious to make up for lost time, Latendresse has been playing the waiting game seemingly forever. The happy-go-lucky left winger hasn’t played in a competitive game since before Christmas – Christmas 2011, that is.

Take a deep breath, Ottawa Senators fans, and let the following sink in.

Goaltender Craig Anderson has spent countless hours during the past few months working out with a couple of people who are linked to Tuesday’s firing of Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Brian Burke: Vancouver Canucks netminder Roberto Luongo and goaltending guru Francois Allaire.
